In Chinatown, at 411-415 Bernard Street, CHSSC has 2 Victorian homes. They provide a place for our extensive library, exhibits, meetings, interns, archivists, book talks, educational programs, picnics and Open Houses. Our Archive Center stores priceless artifacts of the important history of our past. Our facilities are a valuable resource for researchers and the community.
The houses are showing their age. The peeling paint and broken windows hide the truth of the vitality of our organization. To protect our houses, we must restore and paint the exterior wood siding and trim. It’s expensive. Replacing the original windows with custom wooden ones is costly, too. Repairing the front porch railing is on our immediate list of safety concerns.
Our goal is to raise $50K to restore our buildings. We need your help with the facelift as we begin our next 50 years.
