The Eng Family Benevolent Family Association was established in 1974 in Los Angeles Chinatown. Originally the Eng Family Interim Office, the association also joined the Los Angeles CCBA that same year, becoming the last organization to do so.
The Eng Family Benevolent Association consists of members with the surnames Eng, Ng and Wu. The Los Angeles branch of the Eng Family Benevolent Association is one of the newest associations both in Los Angeles Chinatown and among the other Eng associations in the United States. Despite their junior status, they have been very involved with the CCBA, producing two presidents. Since their induction, the Los Angeles chapter has incorporated many educational, recreational, and cultural activities, which include creating a scholarship committee and establishing the Next Generation Group (NGG) to carry on many of the clan’s traditions and history. It is also known as the Eng Suey Sun Association, and trace their history back to the famous Chinese historical figure of the same name (known in Mandarin as Wu Zixu 伍子胥). The Eng Family Benevolent Association in Los Angeles is connected to a network that stretches across the world, including with Eng clansmen in Canada, China, Taiwan, and southeast Asia.
