Return to Gold Mountain Tour
Thanks to the many people who expressed interest in the “Return to Gold Mountain” tour of sites where Chinese worked in the Sierra building the Transcontinental Railroad. I’ve received more details from the organizers and a link where you can register. You do not have to attend the Asian and Pacific Islander Americans in Philanthropy forum to go on this tour. Capacity is about 45 people.
Those leaving from the Bay Area will meet at 8 a.m. at the El Cerrito BART station on Thursday the 8th. Those leaving from Sacramento will meet at 10 a.m. at the California Railroad Museum. After a full day touring the sites by bus, there will be an overnight stay in Reno, then a train trip back to Sacramento around 8:30 the next morning, which will arrive back at the RR museum around 2:15. After a tour of the museum, those returning to the Bay Area will leave at 4:00 and get back to BART around 5:15, depending on traffic.
