“Finding Cleveland”: Film and Discussion

CFHGSC Meeting

10:00 am to 12:00 pm

“Finding Cleveland”, an award winning short film, gives us a glimpse of the lives & culture of the Chinese living in the Mississippi Delta during the time of segregation and the Chinese Exclusion Act. It is an inspiring story and will resonate with everyone who is interested in seeking their own family’s roots.

Recently, Baldwin Chiu, the presenter, has made new discoveries and will be showing additional footage to his original documentary. A discussion with Q&A on the impact of the Chinese Exclusion Act on the Chiu family, segregation of early Chinese immigrants in the Mississippi Delta, and the importance of Asian American stories will follow the film.
